Zambia Mining & Investment Insaka Opens with Focus on Unlocking Sector Wealth

The Zambia Mining and Investment Insaka officially opened in Lusaka on 6th October 2025. The Insaka, hosted under the theme “Unlocking Africa’s Wealth: Advancing Sustainable Mining, Beneficiation and Value Addition“, drew key stakeholders from across the region to explore opportunities for unlocking wealth in the mining sector.

Mining expert Dr. Sixtus Mulenga urged the government to set clear targets for value addition in the critical minerals sector, emphasizing that joint ventures between Zambian entrepreneurs and international investors could accelerate industrialization. He also called for the continuation of stable, investor-friendly policies to maintain global confidence and attract further investment.

Chamber of Mines CEO Sokwani Chilembo highlighted the potential of the upcoming Local Content Bill, noting that its implementation will strengthen supplier development, boost employment, and enable local businesses to benefit more meaningfully from the mining value chain.
Meanwhile, Jerry Chituba from Botswana’s Presidential Advisory team proposed deeper collaboration between Zambia and Botswana to integrate skills, capital markets, and trade systems in the mining sector. He pointed out that although Zambia has issued over 400 prospecting licenses, only a few have matured into operational mines due to limited financing and equipment.

The Insaka continues to serve as a platform for dialogue, innovation, and strategic partnerships aimed at transforming Zambia’s mining landscape.
