Zambia Chamber of Mines President, Mr Goodwell Mateyo was amongst other African delegates that attended the 2019 Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development held in Marrakech Morocco.
The 52nd session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa conference took place from 20th-27th March 2019 under the theme, ‘fiscal policy, trade and the private sector in the digital era: a strategy for Africa.’
This year’s theme recognized the need to improve domestic resource mobilization on the continent and increase competitiveness leveraging on the strength of digital technology.
During the high-level ministerial policy dialogue, Mr Goodwell stated that Africa needs to ensure that it comes up with policies that will not take it out from the global competition, rather than giving incentives, there’s more need for predictability and stability of contracts.
