Mr. Takaiza said the partnership reaffirmed the two organisations’ shared commitment to building a competent workforce, driving productivity and shaping a more innovative and competitive mining sector.
The Zambia Chamber of Mines Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Sokwani Chilembo said collaborative actions between the Zambia Chamber of Mines and TEVETA in mining rescue earned Zambia rights to host the first Mining Rescue Competition in Africa next year.
Eng. Chilembo attributed the recognition to host the Mining Rescue Competition to close collaboration with TEVETA in mining rescue training financed through the TEVET Fund. “Post COVID-19 we partnered with TEVETA to train in mining rescue is for different mining companies.”
Through the MoU, we will work together to establish a strong framework for setting standards for skills development, conducting regular skills needs assessments, anticipating future skills demands, designing targeted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programmes, strengthening Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessments and certification and facilitating Work-Based Learning opportunities such as apprenticeships, internships, and industrial attachments.
This collaboration will ensure that Zambia’s mining workforce remains current, competitive, and responsive to the evolving needs of the industry.
