Munali Nickel Mine back on track
MUNALI Nickel Mine is set to resume production of minerals after securing US$40 million operating capital.
The mine, which is in Mazabuka and operated by Consolidated Nickel Mines through its local subsidiary Mabiza Resources Limited (MRL), has been on care and maintenance since November 2011.
MRL general manager Mathew Banda said in a statement that all studies on the Munali property to improve operations and enable the mine to resume production have been completed.
Mr Banda said the resumption of mining activities is expected to create 400 direct jobs and about 350 indirect ones through contractors.
