On behalf of the membership and wider mining industry,the Secretariat of the Zambia Chamber of Mines wishes to extend sincere congratulations to Mr Anthony Malenga, a distinguished Zambian Mining Industry leader on his election as President of the Chamber, which represents Mining and allied companies operating in Zambia.
Mr Malenga takes over from the immediate past President Dr. Godwin Beene of First Quantum Minerals, who served his two consecutive terms at the helm of the organisation with distinction.
The incoming Chamber President appointed at the Council and Annual General meeting held on Friday, 2 May 2025 is a seasoned executive with over two decades experience in globe-leading businesses across multiple jurisdictions on the continent. Mr. Malenga is the Country Manager of Barrick Lumwana Mining, the Zambian operation of one of the world’s leading tier one Gold miners that is also a growing copper producer.
Mr Malenga will be supported by Mr Charles Sakanya, Chief Executive Officer of Mopani Copper
Mines,who will continue as Vice President.
The industry has every confidence that Mr Malenga’s rich experience and exemplary leadership will enable the sector to greatly benefit all its stakeholders and the nation, as Zambia strives to ambitiously expand and accelerate mineral exploration and copper production while restoring responsible mining standards across all facets of governance and operation.
