The Zambia Mine Rescue Final Heat Competition has started today in Livingstone at the Zesco Victoria Falls Hydro Power Station. Seven mine teams qualified for the Competition that takes place from 22nd -26th July 2019. Mopani Copper Mines has two teams from Nkana and one from Mufulira, Konkola Copper Mines has one team from Nchanga and NFCA Chambishi also have one team. Other teams participating are Lubambe Copper Mine and CNMC Luanshya Mine. Zesco will also participate in the competition as hosts.
The National Mine Rescue Competition is held annually to prepare mines for any emergencies in the mines.The Chamber of Mines ensures that mining companies follow Mine Regulations on mine rescue and international best practices.Winners of the Competition will represent Zambia at the International Mine Rescue Competition in 2022 to be held in Australia.
